About the team

The opportunity to see high level hockey is available in Sevenoaks at Holly Bush Lane - both our Women’s 1s and Men’s 1s play in National Division 1 South which is the next level from the National Premier League. These matches are open to everyone to come to watch.

We like to have junior players on the side-line to form our ‘Ball Patrol’. Ball Patrol helps to keep the game moving quickly, in a similar way to the ball boys and girls at Wimbledon. This is a great way for your son/daughter to see the top level hockey up close and be a part of the wider club. All juniors in the U12, U14 and U16 age groups are encouraged to participate. Please help your child understand the number of volunteers that put in many hours of work to enable their hockey and this is a small way they can put something back into the club.

For those requiring volunteering hours for Duke of Edinburgh this is another way to supplement any existing volunteering within the club.

Ball patrol is required on the following weekends:

Sat 02-Dec16:30 M1
Sat 10-Feb13:30W1
Sat 17-Feb16:30M1
Sat 24-Feb13:30W1
Sat 02-Mar16:30M1
Sat 09-Mar13:30W1
Sat 16-Mar13:30W1
Sun 24-Mar14:00M1

Ball Patrol needs to have a six people. We understand there will be clashes with other activities, and we hope that by providing as much notice as possible your child will be able to help. If everyone makes themselves available for one match we’ll have more than enough. If your child is able to help please ask your manager for the link to sign up.

Guidance for Ball Patrol Participants:

  • Wear mouth guard and shin pads, plus clothes appropriate for weather.
  • Ball patrol rain jackets will be provided.
  • Meet outside the shed by pitch no later than 30 mins before match start time. Someone will be there to meet you and provided further details on what to do.

General Guidelines for Ball Patrol:
  • The key during game time is to be switched on and alert as to what is happening on the pitch. Unlike junior hockey the ball doesn’t only travel much faster along the floor, but in the air also…..
  • Be ready with ball in hand at all times. If you don’t have one, get / find one from pitch side, your ball patrol colleagues.
  • Replace ball at side of pitch for teams to restart play with before retrieving the initial ball that has gone out of play.
